For beginners, there are a few really big mistakes that occur when it comes to building muscle. Hardly anyone ever gets started on the right foot, at least initially.

For many, a first attempt to build muscle means thumbing through the latest bodybuilding magazine and picking the 6-day body part split being promoted by the cover model.

The problem with this approach is that these routines for building muscle (aka hypertrophy) are far too advanced and unnecessary for the budding beginner and most won’t need a routine like that for a long time, if ever to reach their muscle building goals.

So here’s the JCD Fitness Muscle Building Guide For Beginners, by JC Deen and Jordan Syatt.

Today’s infographic is about the exciting field of freelance writing from Mashable.com. The graphic, made as a collaboration between JESS3 and 24Seven, gives a good idea as to what potential freelancers can expect coming into this particular field, both the good and the bad.

The majority left their traditional employment in search of freedom and flexibility. Apparently, being worry-free isn’t a part of that package; freelancers’ top concerns are about staying professionally relevant, meeting deadlines and their lack of a clear direction.

The good news is that according to the study, the longer you freelance, the happier you’ll be beating to your own drum. While new freelancers said they’d be very likely to accept traditional employment in the first year (8.2 on a 10-point scale), seasoned freelancers of 10 years or longer reported a 6.1/10 likelihood. That could have something to do with the fact that 55% of freelancers are expecting a salary increase in 2012 (only 13% are expecting a decrease). Not bad, not bad at all.

Building a successful business is every entrepreneur's goal - but only 1 in 12 succeed. Why do startups fail? The Startup Genome project analyzed data from 3,200 companies and came up with some answers. At the core of any successful business are two things: a good product and a large market for that product. In other words, a startup should be able to scale. And to scale properly, it must balance the growth of five core dimensions: customers, product, team, business model, and funding. The dominant reason for failure: premature scaling of one or more of those dimensions. View the infographic for more!
